Humanitarian Support
For the past few years, the Worthington Chapter has been actively participating along with Philoptochos and the Cathedral of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox church supporting the ‘Weekend Backpacks For Kids’ organization in the Baltimore city area each winter.
Our Chapter purchased hats, scarves, gloves, hoodies and coats for Baltimore City ‘at risk’ youth. Our Brothers donated well over $1,000.00 worth of items each year to the ‘Weekend Backpacks For Kids’ organization, who also packages and delivers food and merchandise to over twenty two (22) inner city schools.
The Worthington Chapter has been acknowledged and thanked by the city of Baltimore for our heartfelt generosity and philanthropic actions.
Community Outreach
Our Worthington Chapter donates every year to the Maryland Special Olympics. It is a very special organization that helps those individuals with intellectual challenges to experience athletic training, competition, happiness and a sense of accomplishment.
Their mission is to ‘year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for persons eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community”.
